So when you see the title of the post you probably think that I am going to share a faith promoting story but this is not the case. I just noticed something funny that I wish to share with all of you. So let's pretend you are teaching a lesson and you ask someone to share an experience where the Spirit has guided them to receive an answer to a prayer. I can GUARANTEE that someone in the group will bring up a story about losing something (keys, wallet, engagement ring, etc.), looking fruitlessly for the item for some time, finally praying, and then having the Spirit direct them to find it quickly.
Here in Ghana the faith promoting stories have a completely different common topic. Most of the faith promoting stories in Ghana revolve around avoiding some sort of traffic mishap. Last week it had to do with our teaching waiting in a queu to get on the highway for over an hour. Some people started going off to the side but he stayed in the queu. A few minutes later he saw these same cars and passed them because they had fallen into a ditch. Today the story was about getting on a trotro but then feeling that it wasn't right so he got off. He got on the next one that came and a few minutes later he passed the first trotro to find that it was in a ditch. Having ridden in many cars and trotros during bad traffic I understand why these stories are faith promoting.
