When I went to the temple on Saturday I was expecting to get another African name but instead I got Maria Josepha Bermon. Maria was christened in Chile in 1805. The lady to my left had a Hispanic name as well so she asked me to help her pronounce it. She was performing an ordinance from Francesca, a sister from Columbia. To my right there was a lady performing an ordinance for a sister in Australia. Isn't it amazing to think about Saints here in Africa performing ordinances for those who lived and died on the other side of the globe?! It was an excellent reminder to in the eyes of God we are all equal and precious to Him. Plus, I have a feeling that Francesca got a pretty good kick out of hearing an African sister try to pronounce her name!

Ghana Temple
On Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the temple here in Accra. We work right next door to the temple so we see it all the time but it is a different feeling to be inside acting as proxy for those who have passed on. The temple here in Ghana is amazingly gorgeous! Below is a picture of the outside. If you click on this link then you can see some lovely pictures of the inside. I especially like all of the blue, purple, and green in the stained glass. http://family.webshots.com/album/91290353mMwYGk?start=12
The first time I did a session I received the endowment for a woman named Mgbo Onya who died in Nigeria in the late 1800's. The card I was given had MTC stamped on it and I later found out missionaries learn to prepare names for the temple while they are in the MTC. The ones they don't have time to do while in the MTC get passed on to random patrons. We have been to the MTC and met the missionaries a few times now so it was cool to be doing doing temple work for one of their ancestors.
